Capacity Building

Training of SHG leaders with the support from NABARD

SIDHA is involved in preparation of LEDP training which will be provided in February 2020 to 300 females in Chandwara block of Koderma district. The training will be provided for generating livelihood through agriculture and animal husbandry. All the trainees will be linked with NABARDs FPO programme and financial institutions.

Training to PRI members

During the year 2011, training was provided to Panchayati Raj Institution Members at Bankheta. It was supported by NABARD. The objective of the training was to make the members understand their rights, roles, and responsibilities, the rights of the villagers, the means to approach the Government for support related to the development of the area under their jurisdiction.

Training of para vets selected by BAIF

SIDHA had implemented this project for BAIF Institute for Rural Vocations and Advancement (BIRVA) in the year 2010-11. All these youth has undergone 45 day residential training and has been placed at the AI centre run by BAIF across state. All these 80 trained para vets are currently working with BIRVA as a full-time employee.

Organised workshop at BAU

Participated in the 2 workshops organised at Birsa Agricultural University regarding climate change and global warming. In the 1st workshop 13 persons attended the workshop from the villages of Bankheta, Urba, Halwadi and Dohakatu. In the 2nd workshop 20 persons attended the workshop and they were imparted knowledge and awareness regarding the activities, which causes emission of green house gases and implications of the same on the global warming. Farmers have been benefited out of this workshop and are now thinking of reducing use of fertilizers and replacing with the use of manures.

Specific training for the traditional crops

Training for agriculture practices was organised for crops of Rabi and summer. Training was organised with the help of the seed companies for good practices for crops like Green Pea, Potato, Tomato and other cash crops. This has benefited farmers of Korche, Bankheta, Urwa, Jamira, and Pesra tand.
Training for summer crop was organised for the farmers of Bankheta, Urba, Halwadi and Dohakatu with the support of seed companies. In Bankheta only 3 decimal land was put under cultivation last year. Vegetables like Green pea, Tomato and Potato were grown as part of the agriculture based interventions in 3 acres of land.

Training on animal husbandry based activities

Training on dairy activities were also organised with the help of dairy development department for the farmers of the 5 villages where we have successfully made our presence. Training on piggery was organised with the help of Professor Sant Singh from BAU, which as pioneered the work for developing the T & D breed of the pigs. This has been the most successfully reared pig breed for the state of Jharkhand.

Training on Bamboo articles

Training on bamboo items was organised at village Bankheta for the traditional bamboo craftmen. These people are now producing bamboo articles and selling it in the market.

Training farmers under Farmer’s field school programme and promoting broiler poultry

SIDHA has partnered with ATMA programme in Ramgarh district for training farmers under the Farmer’s field school programme. The project was implemented under the National Food Security Mission in 2012-14. The programme has been appreciated by the central government and state government team. Broiler rearing has been done by most of the farmers in the poultry sector. Since broiler are more disease prone than the Kroiliers .So, SIDHA has introduced Kroilier farming as an income generation activity.

Training on dry land farming

With a vast majority of land falling under the Tand category, intervention for suitable method of cultivation is necessary to protect land and ensure food and nutritional security issue. SIDHA has promoted cultivation of Pigeon pea and Kulthi in this type of land in association with the Agriculture University and agriculture department. This programme has been up-scaled with the support from ATMA.
